Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was the younger daughter
of media mogul, producer, musician Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. Her
older sister is Kidada Jones, and five half-siblings through the various
relationships between her father and his other partners. Her father is
African-American and her mother is Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant from
immigrants to Russia as well as Latvia). Rashida was educated in Reform
Judaism. She was born in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. Jones stated that
Jones' parents were mixed race and were not acceptable to her in the 1970s.
Jones has made her professional acting debut on The Last Don, a mini-series
that aired in 1997 based on the novel written by Mario Puzo. Rashida also
graduated from Harvard University in 1997. She attended a class at the Buckley
School, Sherman Oaks, California. The school was voted the most likely to be
Successful. Arabic (O+O'UO O(c)) is her nickname. It means "Major"
adult, grown-up and wise. People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People list. (USA)

was her sister's wedding ring bearer and she also sang as a vocalist for a
Tupac Shakur tribute track. Kidada and her brother Quincy Jones III composed
the song. Quincy Jones III, their father, was also featured in the opening,
reciting Shakur's lyrics "Starry Night". The poem is the basis for
the song's title. Rashida's dad is African-American but also has smaller
quantities of English, Scottish, and Welsh ancestral the ancestry of which is
Welsh, Scottish, and English (some of his African ancestral ancestors came from
the Tikar people from Cameroon). Rashida is Ashkenazi Jewish, of Russian Jewish
and Latvian Jewish descent. Her maternal grandparents came from South Carolina
and Mississippi. Her maternal grandfather was born in New York, while her
maternal grandmother was of Eastern European Jewish heritage. She has played
three characters called "Karen" from 2009 to present on the cult TV
comedy show Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella (2006), and The Office (2005).
