ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan and her sisters Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played many sports as a child, but only started to play soccer when she was 14. After high school, she joined Cypress Elite's club team. They won the Coast Soccer League Under-16 championship and finished third place in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to improve her soccer skills at Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) selected Morgan as an All-American Athlete. She also played in the Olympic Development Division's regional and state divisions. Morgan completed her soccer journey at UC Berkeley, where she was the captain of the California Golden Bears team in scoring right from the start of their first season. She was instrumental in bringing the team to the NCAA Tournament every year and twice in the second round. Morgan was among four finalists for the Honda Sports Award and the first player from her school to top the charts of Hermann Trophy finalists. When she graduated at the beginning of 2010, Morgan was ranked third in the history of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate as well as national levels throughout her education. Morgan was injured in the ACL in her first season as a Berkeley player. She was unable play with the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April. In Mexico, Morgan scored her first international soccer goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, scoring four goals and getting her team the gold medal among other accolades.Morgan was later absorbed into the senior national team where she was substituted, and scored several important goals. One of these was a win goal against Italy which earned the U.S. team a final spot at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest member of the team and played a key role in helping it win against France. Though the U.S. ultimately lost to Japan, Morgan became the first person in history to score a goal and an assist in the final World Cup game.
